| Some good news !!Lampard ruled out of Israel match | Lampard has been booed by England fans during recent games |
England v Israel Wembley Stadium Saturday, 8 September Kick-off: 1700 BST Live coverage on BBC One, BBC Radio 5live & the BBC Sport website England midfielder Frank Lampard is out of Saturday's Euro 2008 qualifier with Israel at Wembley - and is rated 50-50 to face Russia four days later. Lampard, 29, tore a thigh muscle in training with Chelsea last week and has returned to his club for treatment. Coach Steve McClaren was more upbeat on Steven Gerrard's toe injury, saying he should recover to play on Saturday. John Terry and Owen Hargreaves missed training on Tuesday, but both are set to take part in Wednesday's session. Lampard will join up with the squad once again on Saturday so England can reassess his progress. | 606: DEBATE |
McClaren said: "Frank came and joined us last night, we looked at the scans and have liaised with Chelsea. "He's gone back there for rehab - the injury is not as serious as we first thought, although hopefully we'll assess him on Saturday. "He may be 50-50 for next week - and Chelsea are giving him every chance of being available for us." Gerrard continued his rehabilitation from a broken toe with some gym work, but he has assured McClaren he will be fit for England's crucial double-header. "All being well Stevie will be available on Saturday," added McClaren. "I want him to play, the team do, the fans do and so does the whole country. We need big players and Stevie is one for us. "We're assessing it day by day. He's getting better and hopefully by the end of the week we'll have a better idea." Terry reported for duty on Monday feeling slightly unwell, but the England captain is not a doubt for Saturday's crucial Group E encounter. Everton defender Joleon Lescott took part in his first England training session and recalled striker Emile Heskey was involved for the first time in three years.
Israel squad for Euro 2008 qualifier against England on 8 September at Wembley: Aouate, Davidovitch, Strauber, Ben Haim, Benado, Gershon, Ziv, Sprungin, Saban, Strul, Antebi, Benayoun, Badier, Alberman, Tal, Zandberg, Yamuz, Itzhaki, Golan, Balili, Collauti, Barda, Katan.

| | Would I be alone in my thinking that Gareth Barry Deserves a go, plus he is left footed, right? Way better than Downing !!

| Grande Cojones Azules (06/09/2007) Would I be alone in my thinking that Gareth Barry Deserves a go, plus he is left footed, right? Way better than Downing !! How about now? I thought Barry had a great game today and played well alongside Gerrard !! Micah and SWP were great too and the side looked really Balanced. Best performance in a long time. Much as it pains me to say it, thought Heskey had a good game with Owen !!
