Hi, I am a new member to this forum! Just wanted to make my first post in saying, has anyone seen that Stuart Pearce is looking at a young left back from Crewe, named Billy Jones. Whether this has anything to with it or not, but this guy is pure quality on Football Manager 2006.

Anyone have any views on this?

Thanks, Dave

If I had to describe his position, I wouldn't choose left-back. The guys more of a centre-back/centre-mid. Basically like Richards, can play anywhere across the back and in midfield.

Hes been transfer listed by Crewe, so I reckon we'll be getting him in January, on the cheap too as he has 6 months left on his contract.

Why's he been transfer listed?

Because he isn't signing a new contract and they want to cash in on him instead of letting him leave on a free:  http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=421871&CPID=11&clid=43&lid=&title=Crewe+make+Jones+available

Your right timp, he is a centre back. And according to the FAs website he's been compared to Sami Hyypia and Tony Adams.Sounds promising.

But on the other hand..... Do we REALLY need another youngster?  Put some faith back into the academy possibly?  I dont know.  I few months back I'd have snapped at the chance of signing Billy Jones...  But as time progresses I'm getting a bit dubious.  After the summers signings hardly "shining", should we really be getting more players in on the books, when we cant get our existing players performing?  I dont know??  He's young and relatively inexperienced...  Definately inexperienced at the level we're going to expect him to play.  If we sign him and it flunks, are we going to turn round and blame SP for his shit signings?  I'm rambling and a tad tipsy.... Sorry
