Sparklehorse ?

3.60 a pint! jesus

It was in a club but yes Jesus!

Gentlemans club?

The Glee Club. Comedy club which doubles as music venue too. Cracking place to see a band as it's quite small and there's a great atmosphere. Price of the booze is the only downside but on the other hand admission is only 17 quid and it's ticketless booking so no booking fee nonsense.

Ah right,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,so not a 'pole' in sight then?

Ah right,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,so not a 'pole' in sight then?

There is across the road at Legs Eleven but the beer is even dearer in there (around £4 for a bottle) so I sneak a milk bottle full of draft sherry in with me in my mac pocket when I go there.

Erm....fairly cheap yes. Most venues want around 19 quid, plus a 2 quid "booking fee" whatever that's supposed to be, for a half decent band these days.

Sorry, I didn't realise Sparklehorse came under the banner of "half decent"

I suppose we are blessed in Manchester with a number of smaller venues that don't charge the earth

Are you trying to provoke me into a "Sparklehorse are the best band on the planet- end of!" type rant that get's up everyones noses because I won't let it lie and refuse to let anyone have the last word and manage to hijack every single thread on here and bring Sparklehorse into it whatever the subject and regardless of the relevance and change my name to "Sparklehorse are the best band on the planet - END OF!" and my Avatar to a picture of Mark Linkous and post pictures of the band at any and every opportunity and quote their fantastic lyrics all the time?

Because I'd rather not if it's all the same to you.

Sparklehorse are a half decent band.

IMHO naturally.

£17 is still a bit pricey though. £10-15 is my range. Going to see Rancid at the Academy in November and that is only about £12. ANd yes, Rancid are quite a popular band.

you know, you know, if a feller named Monroe never fathered bluegrass
he would still be unrecognised as the grand wizard of speed metal
