The old man and the sea - Ernest Hemingway.

Avoid, rather than check. Check, rather than hurt. Hurt, rather than maim. Maim, rather than kill. For all life is precious, nor can any be replaced.

Cloudy O' (22/07/2007)
The old man and the sea - Ernest Hemingway.

I love this book Cloudy, magic. I only read it fo first time recently when I made a pact with myself to read some of the classics which I somehow missed. Loved it.

I'm reading The Lords of the North (forgotten the author), which is about battles for power in Northumbria at the time of King Alfred the Great, leading up to the uniting of the different kingdoms.  I'm quite into my historical fiction at the moment.

Lords of Samaras(22/07/2007)
The picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde.

I started this book and found it too much, didnt finish. Too many complex characters, too many poeople talking in a thoroughly annoying fashion, too much description of scenes and of mens' clothes. Overall, way, way too verbose.

I realise he is a genius but will have to try another of his books if I am to acquire a taste of his style.
