| | yeah, that rumour's been around for a while - didn't he score a screamer for Crewe at the weekend? Hope we get Sidwell - got to ask where the 4 millions going to come from though

| | Newcastle have joined Manchester City and Aston Villa in the race to sign Reading midfielder Steve Sidwell. (Various) Manchester City have been linked with Crewe left-back Billy Jones and MK Dons striker Izale McCleod. (Times)

| We may have the advantage that he seemed pretty keen to join us before, and was all set to do so until Reading put their foot down. £4m is a lot though for a player who will be out of contract shortly, but I suppose that is the consequence of several clubs being interested.

| | I thought the same SB. He seemed determined to join us but I don't think anyone else was really in the running at the time. As for Billy Jones, is he a left-back? That would be great

I think Sidwell would favour us due to the previous interest. but as has been said £4m is a hell of a lot. With regards to Billy Jones, i think it would be very psitive if we were to sign a player from a lower division, not enough teams do that IMO...just as long as they do their homework on him.
