| | It looks likely that staunton will pick ireland to start against cyprus on saturday and may feature midweek against the czechs. Nice to see two city lads take to the field for ireland. I'm fairly sure the games will clash with the england outings, so I'll keep you informed on how they do. |

| Scored a cracking goal too, by all accounts. Will do him the power of good. He's a class player but he could use some recognition to help build his confidence up. Cyprus have scored 2 goals so far so Dunnie's not having such a good game.

| | Ahem. Well, I promised a performance review, and here it is, albeit a bit late (yesterday was spent with a depressed hangover). The match started well, with Stevie scoring a peach of a goal, picking out a shot with three cypriot players on top of him. Then everything went wrong. Although Dunnie powered in a header (his fifth goal in 34 games for Ireland!), Cyprus (Cyprus!) scored five and we lost 5-2. The rest of the Irish defence were appalling, and Dunne was running round trying to do the work of four (or five if you include fat paddy in goal). Steve ireland faded quite a bit, but was given no help from kilbane beside him or keane and morrison up front. I've heard a number of people saying 'thank god for the city players', and even though dunne was sent off (rightly, for two crunching tackles, taking man, ball, turf), none of the blame has been laid on him. It was very depressing all round, but from city's point of view, we came out of it better than anyone. |

| Is that a slightly blue-tinted review or were the other positive comments for the City players from neutrals?
