| Timpblue (10/10/2006) I don't see people's problem with Blunt - ok he's not my cup of tea but at least he writes his own stuff and plays an instrument which is a long way from some of the numpties around
Since when was writing your own songs a sign of quality? Dusty Springfield didn't write her own material and neither did Frank Sinatra or Elvis.
However Ronan Keating, Samantha Mumba, The Spice Girls and McFly all write their own songs.
I rest my case.

At least it's not a cop out, covering others stuff, and playing to a backing track with bloody samples all the time, like all that (c)rap business. |

'Trying' and 'making an effort' don't matter a toss to most punters. This is the way it should be. People excuse crap pub bands, crap support acts and idiots like Jane MacDonald by saying 'at least they are having a go'.
The way I see it if you can't cut the mustard then you should be denied, by law, access to musical instuments. They had the right idea in East Germany. You had to have a licence to perform in a band.
