I think the 27 thing was most recently quoted by Noel Gallagher  - although the peoples PM  Maggie Thatcher did say that if a man found himself using public transport after the age of 25 he could consider himself a failure

she was a warm hearted women was Maggie

Didn't the wizened old hag also come out with ''There's no such thing as society'' or was community??

Who was the person responsible for giving Thatcher the title 'Lady'?  Bloody good one that.  Hillarious.

Bassman, I'll make this one nice and easy for you...

Do you think City winning the league is more or less likely than you becoming a famous pop star?

If you think the answer is less then you are a blinkered fool. Think at your age it's time to drop the blinkered.

Listen pal, age has got nothing to do with rock these days.  So this shows exactly how little you know.

There is a band just becoming a little bit famous now called 'Mystery Jets'.  Don't know if you've heard of them?  Well, their guitarist is 55 years old, and is the father of the lead singer.   The lead singer of Orson, who have just become famous is about 38/39.  There's an American band called Train where all the members of the band are late 30's early 40's, when they became famous about 2 years ago.  Do i need to go on??

They are the exception rather than the rule though eh bassman?

Don't they say if you've not made it by the time you're 27 then hang up your guitar?

Nope, another one.  KT Tunstall was about 31.

Who plucked 27 out of the air??  Never heard that before.  Fair enough if your after being a 'pop' star and want to be in the modern equivalent of Duran Duran, whatever they are, then ok.  But that's all about image and how you look.  Proper rock music isn't about that.

27 is the age of the rock and roll death

I can't see it, just can't see it.

  • Chris Bell (Big Star): car crash
  • D. Boon (Minutemen): car crash
  • Kurt Cobain (Nirvana): suicide
  • Nick Drake: suicide (may have been 26; not sure)
  • Les Harvey (Stone the Crows): Electrocuted
  • Jimi Hendrix: drug overdose
  • Robert Johnson: poisoned
  • Brian Jones (Rolling Stones): drowned
  • Janis Joplin: drug overdose
  • Johnny Kidd: car crash
  • Helmut Koellen (Triumvirat): poisoned
  • Jimmy McCulloch (Wings): heart attack
  • Ron 'Pigpen' McKernan (Grateful Dead): alcohol
  • Jim Morrison (Doors): heart attack (oh come on--we know in the long run it was the drugs...)
  • Gary Thain (Uriah Heep): drug overdose
  • Jason Thirsk (Pennywise): suicide
  • Al Wilson (Canned Heat): suicide

  • Eat, drink and be Benny.

although, to be fair she did manage to destroy all those pesky unions that were so badly advising the millions of working men and women in the UK

By the way, how old is James Blunt?  Or is this just wishful thinking?

I don't see people's problem with Blunt  - ok he's not my cup of tea but at least he writes his own stuff and plays an instrument which is a long way from some of the numpties around

Very true.  In fact he's just gone up in my estimations with you pointing that out.  He still sounds like Kermit the Frog though.

No, you can't, and that's your problem.
