Nice article - BU  - you have way too much time on your hands !

There are a lot of if's and but's involved but - if we keep some of our best young players and buy quality in  - it is out there if the club look hard enough, then we can challenge the top four  - as far as the title's concerned - sorry, no, not in my life time unless some multi billionaire buys into the club

Bassman, I'll make this one nice and easy for you...

Do you think City winning the league is more or less likely than you becoming a famous pop star?

If you think the answer is less then you are a blinkered fool. Think at your age it's time to drop the blinkered.

Listen pal, age has got nothing to do with rock these days.  So this shows exactly how little you know.

There is a band just becoming a little bit famous now called 'Mystery Jets'.  Don't know if you've heard of them?  Well, their guitarist is 55 years old, and is the father of the lead singer.   The lead singer of Orson, who have just become famous is about 38/39.  There's an American band called Train where all the members of the band are late 30's early 40's, when they became famous about 2 years ago.  Do i need to go on??

In terms of are we more likely to do something more than City winning the title?  Yes we are.  The odds are stacked against City because they have no money, are in debt, have a squad of average players compared to the big clubs who are loaded and buy all the best players.  For this to turn in City's favour might take 10 or 15 or 20 years.  That's assuming they are slowly turning the whole thing around.

Us, as a band aren't after mega stardom.  All we are after is being able to support ourselves as a band, without having to work as well.  If we sign to a small indie label and sell 25,000 copies of an album, then that'll do.  And we'll still be able to walk down the street and most people wouldn't recognize us.

For every multi million selling band like U2, there are a thousand other bands who make a nice living out of the music biz, and that's what we're after.

So, there's your answer.

They are the exception rather than the rule though eh bassman?

Don't they say if you've not made it by the time you're 27 then hang up your guitar?

Nope, another one.  KT Tunstall was about 31.

Who plucked 27 out of the air??  Never heard that before.  Fair enough if your after being a 'pop' star and want to be in the modern equivalent of Duran Duran, whatever they are, then ok.  But that's all about image and how you look.  Proper rock music isn't about that.

I think the 27 thing was most recently quoted by Noel Gallagher  - although the peoples PM  Maggie Thatcher did say that if a man found himself using public transport after the age of 25 he could consider himself a failure

she was a warm hearted women was Maggie
