Now now, DS. I disagree strongly with organised religion (especially the Catholic church) but I don't think you should go around calling people fuckwits for their beliefs

I'll go along with Danny's opinion. Religion was created over time to help people deal with and try and understand our existence, and for certain groups of people to keep control over the masses. We know know most of the truth with regards to creation, evolution and so on, therefore religion is redundant IMO.

I love the way religious people deny the science facts re: evolution. It is comedy.

My housemates GF is a church head and I said so lets take this to the highest level, Adam and Eve were, well, just arrived in puf of smoke in some garden, they shagged and produced Kane and Abel....who shagged who to produce the worlds population after that?

She said 'oh I just believe in the ideal of how we came about, not too sure about how'. Right.

Religion is for those who can't come to terms with the fact that life is meaningless, and that once you're potted that is it, nothingness. I can understand people wanting to believe in something the older they get.

Sometimes I wish that I could stop you from talking when I hear the silly things that you say

I was at a funeral a couple of weeks ago and I was a bit upset as it was my favourite auntie, so I had a good cry. Her daughter didn't seem too bothered and that was because she believes in God and the Resurrection and was happy that her mum had gone to a better place and that she'd meet her again. Total and utter nonsense as far as I'm concerned, but each to his own and I was almost jealous of my cousin's belief as it gave her so much comfort.

I don't have a religious or spiritual bone in my body. I understand some people can get some comfort or reassurance from religion at times in their life, but it isn't for me. One thing that annoys me is that some believers can't accept my lack of faith.
I hate the assumption that I must be a Christian. I used to work in a bank and had to wear a name badge. My first name is uncommon and would from time to time attract comments from the customers. A few times I was asked if that 'was really my Christian name'. I would always reply, 'no, it's my first name.'

Religion is the opium of the masses.  Karl Marx got it right

To quote Crass.

Don't believe in Jesus,

Don't believe in God,

Won't go to Heaven,

Don't give a toss,

Don't go to Church and I don't pray,

And when they ask for money I don't pay.

Existentialism is for me I guess.
