I LIKE that team. I like it a lot. I like how it doesn't necessarily contain the greatest players but the ones who you remember most fondly, there are a few of my favourites in there as well.
Nice idea for a cake too.

I'll have a go with players I have seen Corrigan Book Watson Booth Donachie Kinkladze Benarbia Hartford Tueart Bell Kidd 5 Subs: Schmeichel, Caton, Gary Owen, Mike Summerbee, Le Sulk He's here, he's there, he's every fuckin' where Tommy Booth (the best player never to play for England.) I think the problem is that you cannot pick a team of all stars cos they all playedin different eras and with different stylesBook could not have played today,Bell could as could Watson and Booth, and probably Summerbee, and I don't think Kidd could. On the other hand Thierry Henry and C Ronaldo would have been nothings in the 50's.

I guess it is just a combination of players who you remember fondly and you try and cobble them together into something resembling a team. This would be my effort: 1.Coton 2.Richards 4.Dunne 5.Curle 3.Hinchcliffe 7.SWP 8.Benarbia 6.Lake 11.Beagrie 9.Goater 10.Kinkladze Clearlt not the most gifted of sides, but one full of heros of my generation!

| I agree with your logic Bert but my selections are based on performance in the the teams they were in at the time. There is no way an 'ageing' Tony Book would go up against the likes of the Fake Ronaldo, then again I reckon Willie Donachie would gently introduce himself to the Portugeezzer. I saw him against Laurie Cunningham at Maine Road once, he let Cunningham get past him once before he gave him a shoeing, strangely enough he never went past him again. In the same game he also assisted Tommy Booth in sorting out Cyrille Regis who was throwing his weight about, they were lika a tag team, Wilie linked Regis's arms locking them behind his back while Tommy hit him. It was done in the best possible taste. No cameras at pitch side just 40000 odd blues admiring the action.

| | Willie Donachie was an underrated player, as was Kenny Clements on the right. I didn't see them all live, but I reckon Golborne's team is fantastic. Those guys just edged out Steve Daley, Kevin Reeves, Barry Silkman, Steve McKenzie and Mick Robinson. Today's generation of fans look back at the profligacy of Keegan, but Big Mal brought in some dross for big money when he came back to the club.
