| | Was wondering if anybody else heard Keegan on BBC Radio M/C this morning. He didn't go into detail, but said that at the point of having 18 months left of his contract and not being willing to carry on there after, Wardle suggested he shouldn't complete the final 12 months of his contract and only finish that current season. He understood the reason for this, but thought it would serve the new manager (Pearce or whoever else) if they stepped in immediately, to have time to work directly with the players and be able to plan for the summer transfer window. They agreed and remain close friends. He says he loves the club and the fans and really enjoyed his time at City. He claims to be chuffed he had a good relationship with the fans, but was sorry he couldn't take city on that next step to meet the fans expectations, but was happy to have established City as a Premiership club after years of Yo-yoing through the divisions. Seemed quite genuine to be fair. He clearly wasn't the messiah, but I still can't help but like the fella. (Just as an aside, I heard from somebody over the week end that KK was furious with Bernstein for the renegociation of the Fowler deal and nearly walked from City there and then. City's medical staff were never convinced by the state of Fowlers hip and back and warned of complications, which KK ignored as we would never have another oportunity of signing such a player at such a low price. Bernstein disagreed and ultimately walked because of Keegans tantrum.)

| KK did a great job for us but toward the end of his tenure,I had the felling that he was happy to tour the country to say ta ta to everybody.IMO we weren't in a position to let Keegan have his season in the sun, though I too have a soft spot for KK and wish him all the best.

| | A loss for the clu when Bernstein left, he had his head on and perhaps we wouldn't have got into the mess we did if he had been backed by Wardle and Makin at the time this kicked off. I liked Fowler but ultimately felt that we wasted 3 years and numerous millions on him. You saw flashes of what he was but he was never going to get it back.

| | By all accounts KK went running to Dennis Tuart, (who had the ear of Makin and Wardle) over the Fowler signing, and circumnavigated Bernstein. At least he was professional to re-negotiate the best structure deal possible before he walked. He wasn't to know that Leeds were heading for administration. A dark day for City when Bernie left.

| I completley agree with the sentiments above. KK did a job and I thank him for it.

| | I liked Keegan too as a person, and we did see benefits at the club during his time, as stated before. I just cant help but feel that we are in a bad mess for crap signings and paying over the odds and throwing good money after bad !! We are still suffering the hangover today and the forseable future though. Our transfer market savy has definately increased though, what we bought Maken and Anelka for and sold them for is shocking !! Plus the other high profile/Low benefit players bleeding us dry, but these are mostly gone now.

| We played some exciting football in the beginning under KK, but his appointment was a mistake (and I held that belief from day one) that we will be paying for for a few more years yet.
There, you have my contribution.

There, you have my contribution.Sorry BU I disagree, we had a couple of very exciting years that saw City playing some of the most attractive football we have ever seen. I agree that from our 2nd year back in the Premiership he had ceased to have anymore impact and needed to be replaced. He wasted money but also brought Ali Benarbia, Stuart Peace and Anelka to the club. When he was appointed we were on the verge of another manager-go-round after binning Joe Royle. We needed to get back to the big league, it happened and we are still there.
If at first you don't succeed pull your foreskin over your heed. |
