How do all,

Agree that this incident is a storm in a tea cup, FFS he only showed his cheeks, it's hardly the most offensive thing he could have done. Slap wrist don't do it again, £100 fine and enough said.

I wonder if Barton had approached a police officer and made a complaint against a fan who had been verbally abusing him, would Merseyside police have investigated this as well?

Seems to me as though the Police should keep out of football affairs, stop wasting tax payers money and start catching proper crooks.

If somebody reports it to the police they are duty bound to deal with it. They could say "stop wasting police time...or we will prosecute you."

The BBC have re-hashed their Barton article, changing it to
"Joey Barton is expected to find out on Thursday whether he faces a Football Association charge for baring his backside at Everton fans."
as opposed to it saying Wednesday, yesterday. Sterling work from Auntie

I hope the FA see some sense for once and follow SP's thoughts. Its a joke if they ban him or something.

Yellow card at most for insighting fans, same reason as removing your shirt after scoring!!

Good to see from the Guardian article that some of the more level-headed and less petty Everton fans have put the incident in some perspective and called for him not to be punished. Just a shame that the FA are every bit as hysterical and reactionary (where the 'smaller' clubs are concerned at least) as those pathetic individuals who wasted police time by complaining to them.  Anyone else think that a few years ago, there would have been not a word said by the fans to the police, but that there is a bandwagon here that seems to be gaining momentum very quickly, to try and get opposition players punished?   It's not just modern players who are turning into whingeing prima donnas.

I think Cannon had it spot on on the other thread. The FA need to get some perspective. Zokora's actions were far worse than anything Barton did and he has escpaped entirely unpunished

Agree entirely the fa are more that happy to fuck about with bits and piece like the Barton 'incident' but will not lift a hand to do anything about the real problems in the game.

Barwicks experience for running football.... http://www.jibjab.com/jokebox/jokebox/jibjab/id/202400/jokeid/6046 a fucking Joke.

I agree with everything thats been said. Can I just add that I thought joey handled the situation very well, and it could have been much worse. He didn't even slap his arse or spread his cheeks or anything.
