| Joey gave his shirt to a cty fan then walked past the Everton stand (behind the goal) who gave him some stick - he was smiling and walking away without his shirt on and as he did so he lowered the back of his shorts to show his arse - weaver ran over to make sure he pulled them up again - apparanetly there have been some complaints from Everton fans - I think joey will get some stick from SP and maybe the FA - hope it's not a match ban or anything stupid like that.

| | It was all done in jest. Nice one Joey, showing a bit of humour. If the FA do him for this they really are the sad twats i already had them down for. |

| | Football needs a bit of something like that Buzzer used to do it and if it's good enough for him...

| Exactly. I couldn't agree more. Too many people on this forum seem to have over-reacted to this. The tabloids will over-react enough without our own fans doing it.
I posted in the other thread that if Gazza had done it everyone would have laughed heartily and rushed out to buy fake plastic buttocks. That's the facts of it. Give the lad a fucking break. He's playing his heart out for City and whatever has gone on in the past is not affecting his commitment. If in January he tries to get away again, then we can all have a bitch but for now, let's get behind the lad.

| Spot on with the Gazza comment Chilidog. Football, just like snooker, is losing it's magic and that is mainly due to the lack of characters

| I just went on 606. Yeah, I know, stupid thing to do. It's full of morons and only manages to wind me up. Some 'so called' City fan reckoned Barton should be sacked for what he did. Good idea. And perhaps we could ban players from smiling or showing any sign that they are actually enjoying themselves out there. And while we're at it, how about banning goal celebrations. It only excites the crowd and we wouldn't want to do that.

| Well Neville was fined £5,000 and received no ban for "Improper Conduct" when inciting the Liverpool fans at Old Trafford. Will be very interesting to see how this one pans out

| chilidog (01/10/2006) I just went on 606. There are a fair few City fans on this site who have still to forgive Joey for the transfer fiasco and would be glad to see the back of him. While I think I understand their reasoning, I fundamentally disagree, he may not be the brightest, he may not be the guy you want to share a pint with but, on the football field, he is a warrior, prepared to put himself on the line and our best player (well, along with Dunne and Distin). I wish he didn't get into trouble, but that's the other side of his personality; if you lost that cocky, aggressive trouble maing arrogance you'd also lose the aggression on the pitch which makes him the competitor he is. And in the overwsll scheme of things, a half moon does not even come close to the disrepute caused by a forearm smash, a false dive to get a penalty or a manager taking a back hander on a transfer. |

| Like most City fans, I was disgusted by Joey's treatment of City and his snub at the new contract. BUT, he signed a new contract, he wears the blue of City, he gives 100% every week, he's passionate, plays hard, wants to win, and as long as he remains a City player I will support him. If he asks to leave in January, then I will naturally be upset with him and call him every name under the sun, but until then he's got my support.
I totally agree that Joey's character is what gets him in trouble and at the same time, is the thing that makes him such a good player. Unfortunately you have to have both at this time. As he grows up he'll mellow out and become more mature. I just hope he's a City player when this happens.
And yeah, the press reports I've read mentioning Thatchers assault in the same breath as Joey's half-moon are disgracefully lazy journalism. If you don't have a brain cell, simply mention something controversal. It will sell papers anyway, so why bother.

| | Chilidog - hits the nail on the head - Barton has now shown his commitment to the club, gives his all every game and is one of our better players - he's worth supporting and encouraging. His "moon" was just a bit of light hearted banter - nothing more and should be treated as such. Fine him £2 and move on...... It's players like Barton, Richards, Dunne and Weaver that keep City fans supporting the club week in week out.
