| Yeah, right!!!
The budget of 50 million quid wouldn't stretch that far with those players and it's the overalll squad that can manage a whole season, not just a starting 11 that needs to be sorted out.
Anelka back? WTF??!?!?!

| Isn't Vieri available free? Tbh, I haven't been that impressed with him, not for a long time anyway. And I can't remember the last striker who scored loads in Italy doing the same in England. And his wages would be massive.
Anelka on the other hand. A moody git, but he never gave more than 100% for us on the pitch imo, so I'd definitely welcome him back. I like Yakubu, too but Anelka would be my first choice if only we could get someone to partner him. I can't ever remember him working particularly well with other strikers. |

| Pienaar in dark over City linkSteven Pienaar is in the dark over reported interest from new Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson. The South African international is currently with Borussia Dortmund - who he joined from Ajax last summer. A host of Premier League clubs, including the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, considered a bid for the 25-year-old, but Dortmund stepped in to snatch him. However, the move to the Bundesliga has not been as successful as Pienaar would have hoped and he is now been linked with a fresh move. Eriksson - who has an extensive knowledge of European football - is well aware of Pienaar and his midfield capabilities, and he is reported to be considering a move. Pienaar's representative Rob Moore, though, admitted that he had not had any contact with Manchester City. "It is news to me," he told skysports.com. "Obviously they are a big club, with a top class coaching team and a lot of players would like to go there now, but we are not aware "After some very happy years at Ajax he has gone to Dortmund and they play a different type of football. "For anything to happen it would firstly have to be in the best interests of the player, but also it would have to be acceptable to Dortmund."

| | Elsewhere, the Sun take a different view on former England man Platt... 'Sven snubs Platt over City role' SVEN GORAN ERIKSSON is set to snub David Platt for the No 2 role at Manchester City. Instead, former England boss Eriksson, 59, has turned to Swedish pal and TV pundit Hans Backe — after being turned down by yet another Swede, Roland Andersson. Ex-England Under-21 coach Platt, 41, had been strongly linked with the Eastlands job. But Eriksson wants Backe, 55, to help him transform City. Backe has managed four Swedish clubs — and been pals with Eriksson for more than 20 years. To some transfer speculation now and a good news/bad news story from the Daily Telegraph - I'll let you make your mind up as to which is which... Christian Wilhelmsson is set to become Sven-Goran Eriksson's signing at City. The Swedish internation winger, 27, is available for £500,000 from Nantes. Phil Neville has rejected a move to Manchester City, believing it would not be dipolmatic to join the club after spending most of his career at Old Trafford. Typical Sun horse S****
