Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has made Bulgaria Under-21 captain Ivelin Popov a prime January transfer target.
Eriksson is set to watch striker Popov, who plays for Litex Lovech, in Bulgaria's Under-21 clash with Ireland next week and may make a January bid.
20-year-old Popov, who can operate on the right of midfield or up front, has two full caps for his country as well as nine for the Under-21s but is yet to net an international goal. He has scored eight goals in 29 appearances for Litex.
Popov would join countrymen Martin Petrov and Valeri Bojinov at Eastlands.
