Likewise, in the 70's they seemed to be on in a club/pub/bingo hall/phonebox near me every fucking night. No-one liked them, nobody went to see them except by accident. Crap then and crap now. Ditto Duran Duran btw.

OasisI might take issue on the Beatles, although they did produce a fair amount of dross, but Oasis lost it after the first album imho. They were better covering old Pistols songs before they became a Lennon tribute band.

They were better covering old Pistols songs before they became a Lennon tribute band. Beatles produced a LOT of dross. Oasis just had nothing more to offer. Classic example of a band who only have enough tunes for one album. Attitude, not talent, is what sold the rest.
