| Timpblue (27/09/2006) I can remember matches at Maine Road where the hairs on my arms stood on end with the atmosphere - anyone say that for COMSIt has happened a few times, mainly against the scum and Chelsea. At times the atmosphere at Maine Road was just as poor. Much as I miss (and always will) Maine Road we had to move and I love walking into the stadium and seeing the pitch and crowd at COMS, I think it looks awesome. |

Not as old as me I would guess! I have actually seen us win a trophy! I was there in 76! |

| I also remember the Newcastle game in our first season at Eastlands which basically secured our PL survival, the place was rocking.

Yeah! The game against 'Boro when we nearly got to Europe, when we took this piss out of Everton in the last game of the season, when we put the Rags to the sword 3-1 last season. COMS at times can be silent at times which never happened at Maine Road, however Maine Road was a dump at the end. I often had to sit in the Gene Kelly stands - no fun when it was pissing down. The facilities were terrible.
The one thing I do miss about Maine Road was the amount of quality chippies in the area compared to the terrible official catering trucks outside COMS.

| | I never went to Maine Road but from what I heard it was really atmospheric and daunting for the visiting team but when I have been to COMS it has had a good atmosphere. This is what is happening with clubs now, they are moving away from the historical and traditional grounds into more modern stadiums with improved facilities. It first started with us, then Arsenal moving to the Emirates Stadium and now Liverpool in a few years time. The Emirates Stadium is certainly not as atmospheric as Highbury but I guess that its time to move on at some point. All great things come to an end. |

| I'm sure we all have happy memories of times spent at Main Rd.Shame the place was falling down arround our ears. The big difference between COMS and Main Rd for me is that COMS is a sports stadium where as Main Rd was a football ground. This appears unfortunately to be the way grounds are going, the visuals for Lpools new ground look no different to COMS apart from the colour as does the Emirates Stadium, mores the pity.

Didn't the architects responsible for the Emirates stadium visit COMS at one point? As stadium designs go, it's very good.
