Wigan boss makes new Dowd claim
Paul Jewell
Jewell may be punished by the FA
Wigan boss Paul Jewell has claimed a Premiership club asked not to have controversial referee Phil Dowd in charge of their matches.

Jewell is facing an FA improper conduct charge for his rant at Dowd at Arsenal on 11 February.

"We can't as a club say we don't want him but I know a certain club that has asked," he told the Daily Mail.

"I know they didn't have him when they should have this season. Maybe some clubs have more influence than others."

The Latics boss also claimed he had received support from his peers and even from another referee over the Dowd affair.

"I've continued to receive loads of support, in particular from people within the game, especially other managers," said Jewell.

"But I had an interesting one yesterday from a referee. He's sent me a cheque for £25 towards my defence.

"That's just one of the hundreds of e-mails and letters the club has received. It shows an injustice was done."

He's lost it hasn't he?

Typical bit of one-eyed ranting from Jewell again.

Did anyone stop to think, last week when he was going on about how the ref could have cost them £50million, that it was a bit ironic, seeing as their owner and sponsor JJB is about to be sued by Which? for price fixing and ripping off fans.

Well they are the only club ever to have been stitched up by a poor refereeing performance, of course.  It's only right and proper that they should continue to whine and bitch about it for weeks on end.

I hope he's perfected the requisite jowl action then, for maximum effect.

I think that photo above is of him practicing to get both right simultaneously.
