| Right, after reading most of the posts and feeling similar myself to the feelings around here at the moment, (although not as depressed as some!) I think we need to clear things up.
Are we dissappointed at the current league position and the loss to Chesterfield, yes of course. But, it's only early in the season and there's a few games coming up that could change all that. Don't forget, at this stage, 3 points would get us back in mid-table.
From seeing us play Chelsea (although in the away end! ) to hearing the reports from Blackburn, we are getting better with each game. OK so against Blackburn we defended badly, but that was a one off. The defence is good and we need it to stay that way.
We need to get behind the team 100%. Sing, shout, clap I don't care; just do it. If we go there with a negative attitude that won't help the players and it won't please us and that will let down Manchester City football club.
I know it's hard to think positive at the moment, but if we get behind the team so they can concentrate on playing well and not think that every mistake will be booed and hissed at then we might actually stand a chance!
Just imagine if we go out there and win, just imagine if we drive the team forward to a great performance and result; think how great you'll feel in the pub, on the bus, on the train or in the car on the way home, think about how you'll look forward to MOTD or Football First for a change, think about waking up on Sunday morning and remembering the wonder goal that won the game for us, think about Monday morning when you can hold your head up high, think about how you will feel and think about being the best fans in the world.
Let's rock!

(i put this pic up before but I spent ages making it (well, OK 5 mins) but hey, I like it!) |

| Nice post, apart from the bit about the defence being good. We conceded four to Blackburn and two to Chesterfield!

| I think the major problem the current team has is that there is no unity between the players and a complete lack of confidence and it all started around last january with barton transfer request and us getting knocked outta the fa cup. When Barton handed in that transfer request the morale of all the players seemed to dissappear completely possible owing to the fact that the fans choose not to support the team but rather berate barton and boo throughout (Not blaming us at all for the reaction though but maybe in hindsight it might of been better if we didnt do it) then when we lost the in the cup against west ham thats when the fans lost all there hope as well and became quiet and whatever false hope that pre-season brought has already gone leaving us disillousioned and now wanting to sack our own manager (another band wagon i jumped on too quickly) and along with the then club captain deciding not to sign a new contract i think that morale is so bad within the club that it may take something drastic to pull things around and avoid getting dragged into a relegation battle.
But there are a few things that we, the fans, can do. On your next outing to Eastlands make sure that you sing your heart out and try to get those around you to as well so we can start to re-create some of that atmosphere that Maine road had, Back the team at all costs stop the murmurs(love that word) and mutterings, after we make mistakes or let in a goal, that turn the stadium into more of a concentration camp and get behind city like we do at every derby match

| Well, it's good to see the crowd were in high spirits and gave a good account of themselves and that I think was the trick. The team were up for it today too and played some good stuff. Big Sam, Miller and Dunne (very good game!) were very good. Hamann still looks short of match practice so it will be an interesting choice for next week when Dabo is availible.
Let's keep it as we are and keep on backing the blues.
This result won't stop the really strong 'SP out' people, but him winning the league wouldn't stop some of them. If he can continue on this path and hopefully break the away day hoodoo (against Everton would be nice!) then I think we'll be doing well.
I listened to some idiot on the radio saying that this was just a group of playersand not a team and he can see things other people can't (I'd see a Dr if I were him), but SP has brought in a quite a lot of new faces to the first team and we have a 'new' 'keeper too. Surely they will need to time to settle before they 'click' as a team? Some people............
Someone else moaned about the police controlling our club because the road was bloked; idiot!! The Police can block the roads if they see fit and there's nothing the club can do about it. Some people just have to moan, even when we play well and win!!!!!!!!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and keep the faith! (I'll enjoy Football First tonight, that's for sure!) |

Fans have the right to moan. However, I am surprised by the accusations of there been a significant number of fans in a "SP Out" camp. Sure we have been disappointed by overall results and as fans expect more. But most of us do recognise that kicking out SP isn't the answer, because:
1. there has been too much of that at the club over the last 3 decades.
2. the club has no money to bring in "top" players to compete right up there.
3. what would another manager/trainer be able to achieve under the circumstances?
4. if he was kicked out and a replacement came in and was given money, BIG questions would have to be asked.
5. this season is the first that SP has to try his own team out, as best as he is able.
So who are these SP out fans going to games? All said and done, most recognise the problems not just faced by SP, but the club as a whole.

Totally right Frank, I think a few will be happier this week now, I for one want to see pearce stay. Too many bad memories of the club seeking an easy scapegoat.
