| Joey won't be brought to book | 04/02/2007 08:00 |
Sunday People "Joey to clear the air....but he stands by Frank views" Joey Barton will have clear the air talks with Frank Lampard - despite Steve McLaren's insistence there will be 'no issues' between the Manchester City midfielder and senior England players. We can reveal that the outspoken Barton has already made his peace with Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard but knows he still has a problem with Lampard. In an explosive interview with PeopleSport just before Christmas, Barton laid into Rooney, Gerrard, and Lampard for releasing books on the back of England's dismal World Cup campaign. Now he has been called up by McLaren, he can expect a frosty reception. But Barton has headed off a confrontation with his fellows by explaining his views to Rooney and Gerrard. And neither player has a problem with City's controversial star. However, Barton will have a one-to-one with Lampard, who was said to be particularly upset by his comments. As well as criticising Lampard over his book deal, Barton also suggested the Chelsea man could not play in tandem with Gerrard. England boss McLaren says he is not overly concerned about the situation but he will be keen for Lampard and Barton to settle their differences. However, we understand Barton will defend his views while apologising if they caused offence. A friend of the 24-year-old said: "Joey stands by what he said. He is a straight-talking lad and believes he was giving an honest opinion. But he will tell Frank he did not intend to cause him any offence. "After that, he hopes it can all be forgotten."

| | All Barton did was say what every right minded england fan was think about the whole book/world cup fiasco. So Barton can go to the england get together and stand by what he said cuz he should know he's got the backing of everybody bar Lumplard, his dad, and maybe his uncle and cousin, the Redknapps. There cant be a single fan who, when saw he'd brought out a book on the back of his world cup showing, didn't think 'the fucking nerve of some people'. and that goes for any england player who brought a book out after such a pathetic world cup.
Yes, all right.. Christ Almighty! It's like walking down a corridor and answering the door in Nazi Germany! |

Did they write the books themselves or were they 'ghost written' or what ever it gets called?
Whenever you see these players being interviewed, it makes you wonder that they are English, never mind playing for the national team, in the way in which they use, or are unable to use the english language.
Plus I really wonder about the mentality of people who bought these books. Must be the same people who buy Beckham products.
