| | My first ever purchase was the single "I wouldn't trade you for the World" by The Batchelors. It was number one at the time and I was about 7 years old. After saving up me pocket money my older sisters took me to "Hobday's" our local record shop to buy it. I walked into the shop and up to the counter and said to the girl "I don't know what it's called but it goes like this.... 'Ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
I wouldn't trade you for the world Or the pearls in the sea (pearls in the sea) All the treasures of a kingdom That's not what you mean to me
You fill all my sweetest dreams With a love so devi-i-ine (so-o devine) You're like precious gems and spices It's so wonderful you're mi-i-ine' This is just the first verse, but I went through the whole song, backing vocals and all. At the end of it the whole shop was silent apart from my sister's who were pissing themselves laughing. The girl behind the counter says "Oh, I don't think I know that one." [It was number one remember] "Could you sing it again?" Yes, of course I did.
Avoid, rather than check. Check, rather than hurt. Hurt, rather than maim. Maim, rather than kill. For all life is precious, nor can any be replaced. |

| I got my first records when I was about 3 or 4 years old. A friend of the family was trading up his record player and it was thought to be a good idea to give me his old one. I recieved a selection of 7" singles as well. They consisted of Cliff, The Shadows and the Beach Boys. 'Apache' was my favourite. I later blew up the record player when I attempted to clean it with a glass of water.

| I would dearly love to say that my first musical purchase was 'Dark side of the moon' or some such. However, for some inexplicable reason the first 45 i ever bought was Dead or Alive's 'You Spin me round' in about 1985. I was about 11 or 12 though. |

| Can't remember the first 'proper' record I bought, but I think it could have been Ashes to Ashes by Bowie.
