| "Birmingham boss Steve Bruce says rising ticket prices have robbed the third round of the FA Cup of its magic.
"Third round day was always a big date in my diary but these days it costs far too much for the average fan to watch football,” said Bruce.
The facts back him up. The Blues’ 2-2 draw with Newcastle was watched by just 16,444 at St Andrews – 5,518 down on their Championship average gate of 21,962.
Indeed, poor attendances were a feature at the majority of the weekend’s 30 FA Cup ties.
Sixteen of the 30 games were in front of attendances more than 1,000 down on the home club’s league average.
But is it, at Bruce says, just down to the cost of watching football?"
Or maybe it's Birmingham's ridiculous ticket prices Spudmush?
Avoid, rather than check. Check, rather than hurt. Hurt, rather than maim. Maim, rather than kill. For all life is precious, nor can any be replaced. |

| Well their pricing policy is doing them no favours at all, it would seem(David) Sullivan said: "We are £5million overdrawn, in breach of our overdraft limit with the bank. It does my brain in when people say 'where has all the money gone?'. We've spent it. "There are hidden extras fans don't know about like pay-offs to get rid of players, agents' fees etc. Our gate receipts are way below covering our wages. "We don't want the club to end up in debt because it would never recover. But at the same time, we are looking to buy players to help the manager and the team. "We are putting our own money in and we accept that the injury to Nicklas Bendtner means we have to buy a striker - and we will. That's our priority."
