Stuart Pearce has accepted full responsibility for City’s exit from the Carling Cup at Chesterfield.
The Blues were stunned by a second-half revival by the home side, after taking the lead through Georgios Samaras before the break.

Pearce said: “As I always say, we came here prepared for this game but we have not won so the manager has to take the stick for that. I will, there's no problem there.

“I've told the players that the only thing they can do is draw closer together, learn by this, and try to win the next game.

“I've got a perception in my own mind that I am big enough to take anything that comes my way. You have to, that's the nature of professional football. You are only as good as your last result and tonight was not good enough. I'm bitterly disappointed that we did not win tonight, because once we got our noses in front we should have gone on and won the game.

“The first person that takes the flak is Stuart Pearce, that's always been the way with me and when I walk away from here tonight I'm the one who should take the criticism, not the players. They gave me everything tonight but we have to work harder on the training pitch and that starts again on Thursday.

“I believe I work fairly hard at the moment, but I’m going to have to work harder and instil some confidence in the players.”

Fair enough but I don't think he's fully grasped how shit the result was and how pissed off we are.

he would still be unrecognised as the grand wizard of speed metal

Too much Mr. Nice Guy again. It really does remind me of McCarthy's last days at Sunderland

Spot on Bassman. I sound like my own echo but exactly like McCarthy. Holding your hands up can only go on for so long

He keeps saying they have to work harder in training.  Well that's it.  They've worked so hard in training they are too tired when it comes to the matches.  Ease off 'em, and it'll be okay.

In the words of the great Alice Cooper 'No more Mr. Nice Guy', it's just sounding like bullshit now.
