| What they need? A striker - desperately - and a creative midfielder. What have they got to spend? All the talk has been about who will leave City with key trio Micah Richards, Sylvain Distin and Joey Barton all linked to big-money moves away from Eastlands. Boss Stuart Pearce has no financial need to sell but with ongoing takeover talks yet to be concluded he has little cash to bring in reinforcements either - but a striker is top of his list. Who have they been linked with? Shaun Wright-Phillips, Olivier Thomert, Billy Sharp, Greg Halford, Alfonso Alves, Ivan Klasnic, Robert Koren. Who do you want them to buy? "Distin for SWP... good deal for both parties at present!"

| | That isn't what the BBC think, it's what 12barblue(s) thinks, and a fear he's still pissed from yesterday. City don't need SWP, as long as Trabelsi stays fit we're ok wide right, and SWP isn't a creative midfielder, he creates chances due to his pace not skill.

The only problem with Trabelsi is that he's afraid to run at defenders despite possessing good pace while Shauny will. The fact Trabelsi is a right back too and SWP is a winger can be seen in their different styles. Don't get me wrong I think Trabelsi is a quality player but I think he might be better off at right back.

| | This is my 1st post so go easy on me please! My personal opinion of the matter is that although it would be good to have SWP back in the squad i dont think it would be a good investment and eventhough every part of the press are gearing towards one of the trio leaving i cannot see any of them leaving this january, Barton has publically announced he is looking to gain his first england cap and moving away from eastlands would not boost his chances of doing this due to the lack of first team football he would recieve. Distin moving away from eastlands would split up a well known partnership of himself and dunney at the back and i very much doubt he would be as good with another centre half, last but not least micah richards the board must be be suicidal and not know the first thing about running a buissiness if they sell him now, surely his value is only going to rise! Let me know what you all think POYZERUK

| | I'd hope you're right Poyzeruk (what does that mean btw?) but the fly in the ointment is wages. City won't pay much above £35k a week and, let's face it, no-one can manage on that kind of money can they? Sweep left for the cash rather than the glory imo and now he's stuck with it. Having watched him on tv last night I wouldn't want him back. He looked a shadow of the player we knew.

SWP is a winger with pace, he gets down the wing, takes on defenders and puts the ball in the danger zone, he also has a reasonable eye for goal. When I said 'creative' I was tinking more along the lines of a central player, someone that can thread balls through, 'the killer pass' so to speak. SWP isn't that sort of player.

That's what I was thinking last night, his touch was poor, he gave the ball away and he couldn't get passed the Villa defense!
It'll take SWP ages to get his confidence back, so there's no point us getting him as we need some impact now. |

The only way this'd happen would be a swap deal, but to be honest, I'd rather have the extra £10m. Think about the quality you could buy for that. I mean SWP was great for us, but we could get a proper top-class player that's actually on form for that sort of money. |
