| | Its good to hear him saying that but in the end the financial position of the club and of wardle etc over-rides everything else and they'll do what they want. Don't think he could have made it any more obvious that he's enquired about SWP, can't think he'd be interested in anyone else.

But why say something like that if the Chairman was going to pull the rug from under him when the transfer window opened?
Pearce wouldn't say something like that if he didn't have reassurances from the board. He also states that only if it benefited the club, therefore covering all eventualities.

| | I agree with PB, losing Richards won't mean the end of the world and at least we're in the driving seat for a change. I'd like to see Pearce be cheeky and say "Yes you can have Richards for 20 million, or SWP plus 10 million, or SWP and Wayne Bridge plus 5 million or Joe Cole plus 5 million" and see what happens. If Mourinho wants Richards badly enough he might deal. If not then we get to keep him.

If motivation's a factor, then we'll have to carry on as we are and buy injured, second-rate, unproven players who may or not be good enough and just see what happens.

| I would have hoped and thought that City are looking to build a team round players like Micah, not become a feeder club for the likes of Chelsea. I think he'll only go if HE wants to, and SP says, there has been no contact from the chav's, and with Terry being possibly out for 3 months, it's an experienced FB they need. I think it's more likely that they would look at Distin than Micah.

Why would Bridge and Cole leave the back to back winning champions and wages of £70k plus a week to join us? Swap deals depend on the player coming our way to be interested too.
