Not too sure how much they want. I think they'll let him go though as the gossip page on BBC said Newcastle are still interested so maybe Boro don't want to keep him.

He'd be a risk though with the injuries he's been through. I'd rather look at him in the summer after he's played a full season to see if he's fully recovered.

Chelsea do need a centre back. Mouriniho was going to play Drogba there but he didn't cos Shev is so crap at the moment.

I wish he'd have done it, it would have been pure comedy especially if his defending is as some of his shooting. Anyone see that slice from Boxing Day?!?

LBM,

Fans in glass stadium's shouldn't throw stones! Did you see Big Sam's slice from 6 yards out on Boxing Day? Ahem......

Anyway, the only way Micah will be sold is if it's seriously stupid money. ie £20m plus. He himself doesn't want to leave. It won't be a SWP " I want to talk to Chelsea" u-turn. As for Distin, I'm never one for a player holding a club to ransom, get rid says I.

Can't knock Drogba at the moment, best striker by miles in the premiership this season. I'd be suprised if Chelsea took Distin though, sure he's good but is he worthy of playing fr the best team in the country??? Don't think so

Squidge,

May I point out that he already plays for the best team in the land in all the world?

teams that are in 50m in debt can't scoff at 18m for a player they played nothing for. we need to get rid of this debt so then when we sell a player that money is used for improving the team. i knwo we all like richards. but thats a lot of cash. and we will lose distin so he'll need replacing, and the left. and the creativity and the lack of goals ad infinitum.

i'm all for reducing the debt but at what cost to the team?

We need to consider how much of that money will be available if we lose Richards & Distin and who is available to replace them?

Will they be any better than what we'll be selling? I doubt it and as we're struggling already I can't see any positives at all.

if we get relegated it won't be because we lose richards and distin. it'll be because we haven't been good enough as a team. we havent made enough chances and we haven't scored enough goals.

i'd like to keep richards and build on our youth system, losing distin is pretty likely, and ned can come in to replace him. all i'm saying is like swp, losing richards wouldn't be the end of the world.

Also, at the AGM it was advised that whilst the interest was added to the loans that Wardle and Makin are owed, they have excercised the option not to take that money out of the club for at least another 12 months. The majority of the debt is owed to the pair of them, so whilst £18m is a lot of money, we don't necessarily have to take it at the moment. What's the lad going to be worth in another 12 months if he keeps improving?

couldn't agree more. Pearce obviously knew this at the end of the season and tried to address it but as it stands has failed.

we need someone to create the chances in alongside Joey whilst he does all the donkey work.

From the BBC:

Pearce plays down Richards report

Man City want to keep Richards but are eyeing Wright-Phillips
Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce insists Chelsea have not made contact about signing £18m-rated England teenager Micah Richards.
But Pearce revealed he is in touch with Chelsea about potential signings, one of which is understood to be former City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Defender Richards, 18, has been linked with a January move to Stamford Bridge.

Pearce said: "There has been no contact from Chelsea, although I have rung them about players coming here."

Players will only leave this club if it benefits the club

Man City boss Stuart Pearce

And Pearce also warned Chelsea that City did not need to sell Richards for financial reasons.

He added: "I am delighted we have interest in our players, if that is the case, because it means those players are doing well.

"But I must remind everyone that Manchester City are not in the situation they were two years ago, when we had to sell.

"Players will only leave this club if it benefits the club."

Richards made his England debut in the 1-1 draw with Holland in November.

Meanwhile, Pearce has denied suggestions that former skipper Sylvain Distin has rejected a final contract offer, insisting he still believes the Frenchman will stay at City.

"We have been talking to Sylvain for 18 months now and I honestly believe he will end up signing a new contract, whether that is next week, next month or in the summer, I do not know."
