Malcolm Glazer will 'limit' Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson's spending to £25m a season - but has set aside the same amount in an attempt to lure a superstar signing. (Various)

Diddums. Would make a nice change to see other clubs going down this route. But can't see Chavski following suit.
Also would be nice if SP had this 'limit'.

I think clubs should be able to spend whatever they can afford.  If the rags cant match Chelsea then its too bad - there's been a long enough period of time when nobody could match them.  Taggart will have to show his mettle by buying wisely and building a better team for less money.

I tend to agree that the FA can't impose a cap on spending.

We don't want to go down the route of American sport. Limiting teams to a certain amount.

Let's face it, if we had an owner that was worth £1b, and they offered SP £50m in January, we'd be 'bashing the bishop' in anticipation!!!

Well I would

Personally, I think the transfer market has gotten way out of hand. There must be corruption in there, when you consider the money changing hands and the characters involved.
Also, if United admitted they are limiting the amount of cash they are willing to spend, then other clubs know that it is easier to compete and hands the market to Chavski on a plate.
I never thought SWP was worth what Chavski paid. But seeing as a club was daft enough to pay it, no one can complain. But with United bowing out from this transfer competition to some extent, fees could take a dip.
