I've heard of actim and checked them out from time to time, but I now hear loads of players and pundis talking about player work rates and distances ran etc.  Joey was doing the same on Sky Tv on Sunday.  They talk about some Pro-system.  I've heard pundits say that Lampard and Gerrard run 10-12km in a match and Joey was suggesting the same.  Does anyone kow where these stats are?

Apparently Portsmouth looked at their stats last year and were 10% downon all their opponents before Redknapp took over - he showed them their poor stats and then analysed everygame and their workrate went up in all their next 9 games to 20% more than their opposition (and they went 9 games unbeaten I think).

I wonder if City use these sort of figures. I would be very interesting to see how much effort players like Reyna and Samaras put in.

12k over 90 minutes is no great sweat is it?

Avoid, rather than check. Check, rather than hurt. Hurt, rather than maim. Maim, rather than kill. For all life is precious, nor can any be replaced.

No it's not, but doing it regularly should keep some weight off. Imagine how big he'd be if he wasn't.

12K over 90 minutes is quite a lot if you're playing football not just running.  There must be long periods when players are just standing and waiting for corners, free kicks, throw-ins, goal kicks etc.  They probably do the distance in less than 50 mins and in loads of short bursts.

I Bet Anelka used to do about 1k on a good week (and that was just walking back from being off side)

Just thought it would be interesting to see how our teams stats look compared to the teams who beat us.

It's called Pro-Zone and is a computer programme that tracks everything every single player in one game does. It let's the manager analyse individual performances and picks up any defects in a players game that can then be worked on in training. It's that detailed it counts how many steps a player takes during 90 minutes.

A bit like champ manager but in real life. It actually rates a players performance against his last three games!

Fo Schizzle!

Father Funkmas knows his stuff.  ust puzzles me that if City have Pro-Zone why the hell is it taking so long to realise that Vassell offers nothing at all when played on the left.

Wonder if SP would ever Play  a new formation (at home), say

                   Keeper

RB           CB           CB              LB

             Deep Midfielder

RMF                                         LMF

                        striker

             Striker             Striker

Forced because of our lack of wide players

But in his case, 8k of it is chasing the referee to contest decisions

We would be too narrow and it would mean Thatch and Micah would not have the licence to go forward as Vass and Trabelsi would not be able to slot in behind them as cover.

That particular formation works a treat on Fifa '07, by the way.

not sure that would formation would work.  Our strikers are so bad at scoring that we could put 6 or 7 up there and they still wouldn't score.  I'm waiting for Pearce to show some sense and stick Vassell up front where he is dangerous.  His pace is wasted on the wing.  He should stick Miller back on the left.  Its farcical that we have no decent left wingers when we let two go in the summer.  Riera signed for some spanish side(espanyol) on a free i think or some really low amount so g0d knows why we never signed him permanently.  He showed enough to justify another year.  Everyone goes on about Pearce being a good manager but any idot knows we want a left winger yet he decided to wait until transfer deadline day then signed a player who is so lightweight that he makes Reyna look reliable.  Its unbelievable
