First of all there's some very false logic on here... Weaver hasn't made a mistake yet, so there's one on its way? thats not very fair is it.

Secondly Isaksson has looked far from steady in his reserve games so far.

One mistake and weaver is dropped and that will be it.  Its a shame though as he has played really well this year.  Everyone goes on about Richards being the link to the fans but in my opinion Weaver is that guy and its brilliant seeing him as number 1 again.  He only ever says good things about the club and the fans.  Only a couple of weeks ago he said that very few players leave this club and go on to bigger and better clubs.

He has kept 7 clean sheets this year which frankly is fantastic.

I was watching my old back to the premiership dvd last weekend and Weaver was massive in those days.  He's slimmed down a lot now

I saw Isaksson and Weaver shot stopping before the game on Monday and imo Weaver looked the better keeper. I think it will be another few weeks until Andreas is good enough for the no.1 spot

This is the kind of hard work and professionalism I like to see.  The competition for the keepers position can also only be a good thing to spur him on to continue doing so, and not rest on his laurels.

Nick Weaver’s hard work during his injury nightmare has paid off for him this season, in the opinion of City’s goalkeeping coach Tim Flowers.

The popular stopper has been in superb form since returning to the first team in August after the knee ligament injury that threatened his career, and his coach knows the reasons behind Nick’s success.

“I’m delighted for him,” says Tim, “I could not be happier for him but I think he has done magnificently well with all the problems that he has had.

Since coming back, Nick has been out at training earlier than anyone else and stayed out later, then come back in to finish his rehab in the gym. He often does not leave until late afternoon and it has showed, his weight has come down and he is nice and strong.

“The way he has come back says everything about him. He’s very much the joker in the pack here, the lads in the dressing room think the world of him and I think the supporters do as well. He’s a cult hero from Wembley in 1999, the fans have never forgotten him and what he did for the club.

“The reception he got when he ran out for the Portsmouth game this season was fantastic, and with Jamo at the other end it was a big night for him but he kept a clean sheet. It’s a credit to his resourcefulness and his desire that he never folded.”

City stuck by Nick during his long rehabilitation from injury, and Tim is certain that both parties have benefited from the patient approach.

“The club did the right thing by standing by him, and this season has been payback time,” Tim asserts. “We’ve got a top-class goalkeeper back and he loves it here, but he did the right thing as well by keeping himself in good nick, and he’s paying us back now.”

Keeper of the heretic's fork of doom.
