| His punishment should be what he did to the bear.Country singer rapped over bear | Troy Lee Gentry has posted an apology on his band's website | US country singer Troy Lee Gentry has pleaded guilty to falsely registering a captive bear as being killed in the wild in Minnesota. The 39-year-old, one half of country music duo Montgomery Gentry, was fined $15,000 (£7,713) and agreed to give up hunting in the state for five years. Gentry bought the bear, named Cubby, in 2004 in order to hunt it with a bow and arrow on a private enclosure. The guilty plea enabled the singer to avoid a trial, due to start this week. Gentry - whose hits with singing partner Eddie Montgomery include My Town, If You Stop Loving Me and Hell Yeah - told the court he bought the bear from his local hunting guide, Lee Marvin Greenly. 'Humbling' The pair agreed to report the animal was killed in the wild six miles east of Sandstone, Minnesota, instead of inside an electric-fenced, three-acre enclosure on Mr Greenly's property south of the town. Gentry's attorney said he had pleaded guilty "to a simple charge having to do with improper tagging". "I did participate in improperly tagging the animal I shot, without realising the seriousness of what I was doing," said the singer in a statement posted on his official website. "For that I am truly sorry. This has been a humbling experience for me, and one which I deeply regret." |
you know, you know, if a feller named Monroe never fathered bluegrass he would still be unrecognised as the grand wizard of speed metal

| I dont understand the whole hunting experience. I have been hunting a few times with people and they get genuine thrill out of blowing shet out of defenceless animal with high-powered rifle. Did it a few times and and it did my head in, hate it.
For farmers its a different story, they are not out there thrilll killing, they shoot or trap hazards to their livelihood. Fair enough.
Getting a 4 x 4 packed with blokes and guns, throw in a spot light and some beers, get a life.
Dont get me started on fox hunting. Posh idiots. Just because it has a culture attached to it doesnt make it right.
