| Firstly I should make clear that this isn’t a list of the best ever players City have signed. The table (below) is worked out purely in financial terms and only includes players who were later sold by the club. Obviously a player such as Colin Bell, who was bought for £42,000 from Bury in 1966, would have been worth several times that at the height of his career. But as it’s impossible to put a financial figure on players who aren’t sold, he ain’t on the list.
Next week we’ll be revealing City’s all-time worst transfer signings

| | Maybe they're not sure of the exact figure he was sold for.... Maybe there's some limit on how recent the signings are? Not too sure.

| The Kinky deal looks surprisingly good business with the benefit of hindsight given that he'd already started to go off the rails a bit when we sold him.

| | swp was brought into the youth team though wasnt he? if you included them it'd get silly... it shouldnt be based on % rise per year.. as surely if you get a good few years service and then still make a profit.. that is much better..

| Cloudy O'Reyna (28/11/2006) The Kinky deal looks surprisingly good business with the benefit of hindsight given that he'd already started to go off the rails a bit when we sold him.And the fact we'd been relegated.

| | Can we pass on the list of worst deals though? That's going to make for very depressing reading.
