| This was supposed to quote Cloudy O'Reyna (28/11/2006)
Grrrr..... This is the "why are they" icons thread! Not the "these are my" icons thread. |
OK! Black sabbath???????? and if anyone thinks different, tell me why.
Yes, all right.. Christ Almighty! It's like walking down a corridor and answering the door in Nazi Germany! |

| East Stand Massive (28/11/2006) Marc Bolan? At the risk of upsetting Cloudy O'Grumpy I'd agree with that.
you know, you know, if a feller named Monroe never fathered bluegrass he would still be unrecognised as the grand wizard of speed metal

East Stand Massive (28/11/2006)
slart (28/11/2006)
This is the most influential band of the last 35 years. And along with The Beatles and Elvis the most influential act that has ever existed. Hmmmmmmmmmmm........ OK! Black sabbath???????? and if anyone thinks different, tell me why. What did they ever do to change or influence music?? If it wasn't for THE rock icons Led Zep, there wouldn't have been Sabbath

If it wasn't for THE rock icons Led Zep, there wouldn't have been Sabbath I'd say Sabbath were equally as important as Led Zep. Tony Iommi invented a completely new way of playing guitar when they recorded their debut.

| Led Zeppelin took the blues, folk and later on "world" music and turned up the volume. I'm not knocking them - they are one of my favourites - but Black Sabbath did invent a musical genre unlike anything that came before.
There are thousands of bands today that are influenced by them. No other act can say the same thing.

| | Mr Anthony Wilson? Although a cock of titanic proportions, he pretty much single handedly brought Punk to the attention of the masses outside London, created Factory Records with bands such as Joy Division, New Order and The Happy Mondays which in turn created the 'Madchester' scene, and lets not forget the influence the Hacienda had on the early dance scene.

Sorry, as far as Tony Wilson is concerned he is just a twat. End of.
