SVEN-GORAN ERIKSSON has been backed by Manchester City’s Thai owner after weeks of speculation the Swede was facing the sack.

Thaksin Shinawatra was reported to be considering Eriksson’s future after a mini-slump in results, even before yesterday’s surprise 3-2 home defeat to Fulham.

But Shinawatra revealed yesterday that he’s held talks with the City boss about new targets for next season.

And it’s clear in Shinawatra’s message to fans that he’s happy Eriksson will still be at City next

season and beyond.

Like i said in my previous post on here, its media speculation because of results. He wont be going nowhere, its just not right t do that to him, he has met his goal....TOP FUCKING 10 FINISH.

I've still not seen a single word from Sven or Thaksin that says anything that could even remotely be considered as meaning a sacking or a parting of the ways.

Just cos it's in the fucking papers don't make it right.

This is now turning into a fucking joke. Sven has delivered what was expected of him over the season as a whole, the plan was a top 4 in 3 years, not over fucking night. To get shut of Sven will cost us about £12m, plus then we'll have a new manager with new idea's who'll want new players. Frank's a bit of a dick, if he thinks he can turn City into the EPL's Hearts, he's picked the wrong club, the fans won't stand for it.

Joke, laughing stock etc etc = Manchester City Football Club. You couldn't fuckin' make it up!!

It's all over sky sports news for fuck sake, not just the papers. Sven's agent has just been on sky & said he DOESN'T think Sven will be at City the start of next season. He's defo going IMO.

I'll be sick if he gets the boot.

The best manager we've had had decades.

But his agent, Athole Still, said: "There is no way he will quit after the successful job he has done."

City have also released a statement saying: "Sven Goran Eriksson has confirmed that he has no plans to leave the club. ?????????????????

It is ridiculous, this guy has no idea what he is doing.  He must have somebody else lined up though e.g. Big Phil.  I am sure this will mean that Dunne will go to Newcastle now and half the team will leave.

He'll be gone by the weekend as there is no way he will stay around for the last two games if he's been sacked

Eriksson to be sacked by Man City

By Simon Austin

Sven-Goran Eriksson
Eriksson had a flying start to life with City

Sven-Goran Eriksson has been told he will be sacked as Manchester City manager at the end of the season, BBC Sport understands.

City owner Thaksin Shinawatra told Eriksson he was "not the right man for the job" at a meeting on Sunday, a source close to the Swede said.

Eriksson informed the players at training on Monday that he would be dismissed, provoking an angry response.

Shinawatra has been unhappy with City's results since the turn of the year.
