Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill is ready to bid £7m for Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe. (Various)

Manchester United have made a fresh move for Atletico Madrid's Spanish international striker Fernando Torres - but have been told the price is £25m. (Daily Mirror)

West Ham are hoping to secure a deal for Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips, initially on loan until the end of the season with a view to a £10m permanent move. (The Independent)

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas says he is seriously considering signing Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka. (Daily Mirror)

The Anelka one is surely the funniest. The only comparison I can think of with Anelka is that he's a bit like a Lamborghini Muira from the 70's.

Incredibly expensive, utterly desirable and people bought them despite the price.

And oh yes, of course it was a bag of nails.

As for Sweep to West Ham, although £10m would be tempting I think we could more with that kind of money.

6 mil for Samaras or 7 mil for Defoe.

What would you do? I know what I would do!

I gave Elano my Porsche and now I want it back!

Yup, Samaras any day.

Defoe is probably one of the few strikers in the Prem that has impressed me less than Sam this year

I like Samaras but he is not the goal scorer that Defoe would be if Jol actually played him regularly.

I gave Elano my Porsche and now I want it back!

Personally i'd pay whatever it took to sign Robbie Keane. Absolutly fantastic player, and he is just made for City...he just strikes me as a City player. I've though that for a couple of years though...in hindsight we should have gone for him instead of Fowler.

I've always been a big fan of Robbie Keane (irritating goal celebration aside). Would compliment Samaras well.

Compliments such as

'Nice hair.'

and

'Ooh, your boots are shiny today.'

??
