slart (18/04/2008) Never owned an ipod. You, Bassman, two peas, no ipod. Nah. Bassman is against ipods and downloading as he thinks it isn't "real". I've given up on my discman (too clunky) and tend to read on the train these days. I started Apple this morning. I go out cycling and see other cyclists with ipods. Not as stupid as cycling and texting at the same time but still stupid all the same.

Agreed re cycling and ditto running. You need to be able to hear what's going on.
What's "apple" please?

| | Apple is a book by Richard Milward. He is a whippersnapper and this is his first novel. It has had a lot of hype and is being branded the Catcher in the Rye for this generation. Where have we heard that one before. It is set in a Midlesborough housing estate and is from the point of view of two teenagers - Adam and Eve - the narrative skips from one to the other. The opening chapter seems good. Just finished Three to Meet the King by Magnus Mills. A brilliant and funny book. You should check him out.

| | What's wrong with a proper stereogram? These ipod thingy's are shite. I'll stick with my Bose system thanks and enjoy superior sound quality, plus I can still hook up my MP3 to it if needed. Anyway, for £299 you could buy the new Bose Sound dock. May not look as pretty but I bet it sounds better.

| Bose looks nice, but does it beat hifi separates? I have an Aram Cd player, Musical Fidelity amp and B&W speakers. And B&W are the best in the business, so that new toy must be great, Cloudy.

| One review Cloudy. The Bose gets 8/10 in most reviews, plus it can be picked up for £150 less that this B & W thingy.
