Manchester City will sell Stephen Ireland to Sunderland for about £8m in the summer. (The Sun)

I know it's the SUN & not really worthy of a reply, however........  Irelad is OK, works hard and has scored some importnat goals, but if we were to be offered £8m I'd snatch their hand off - he won't play a big part in our 1st team next year and the money could go towards a world class play maker.  I'd have rated him more aorund the £3-4M mark if he has 2 or 3 yrs of his current contract with us.

There were more stories about Stephen Ireland in yesterday's Evening Herald (Irish paper).  It was about how he will not return to the ROI squad and how Liam Brady and Frank Stapleton are going to have a meeting with him.

I hope the stuff in The Sun is bollocks.  I think he is improving as a player and will be better again next season.

Concur.

No doubt he's got fantastic ability in certain areas of his game, but as a midfielder being able to pass to a team mate is quite important. sadly Stevie seems to have that facet of his game missing.

Much as I like to see our Academy products stay at the club and succeed, I'd take £8m for him.  Wouldn't sell him off cheaply, though.
