Biggest non story on the planet. Chinese whispers at its finest. It really is funny watching all these journos add their own layer of bullshit to the story and print it.

I'm not so sure you know.  Thaksin's been asked several times if he is happy with Sven since the original quotes came out and all he's said is that he doesn't want to talk about any specific person.  And Sven himself has commented on it.

I'm not convinced Sven will actually get axed, but I do believe that Thaksin is genuinely thinking about it.

Which to be honest makes me really nervous.  I don't mind a chairman with ambition, but it seems pretty clear he knows dick all about football but he still wants to have control over things.  The fact that all the ronaldinho talk was coming from him and Sven didn't even know about it says a lot.

Wish he would just take a step back and let Sven manage the club.  He's got no reason to be sticking his nose in at all - we've done well this season and from a business point of view (bearing in mind his priority is raising our profile in Asia) I can't really see how it will benefit him getting rid of Sven and appointing someone else.  I fully believe with a couple of strong signings this summer we can be pushing for Europe again next season - with Sven still in place - appointing someone else seems like a bigger risk if you ask me, especially since whoever replaces Sven would probably want to rebuild the team again his own way.

specifically referring to this article by the way:

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/eriksson-confident-that-he-will-survive-thai-pressure-cooker-810894.html

"The Swede has been bemused by reports from Dubai in the past few days of Thaksin's failure to dismiss suggestions that he might replace his manager at the end of the season. Thaksin had every chance to put Eriksson's mind at rest when, after a Middle East and Asia business leaders' forum on Monday, he was asked several times: "Are you happy with Sven or looking to replace him?" He said he would not discuss "any specific person".

But that article is a part of the bullshit. For example, when asked about Sven, Thaksin refused to discuss any specific person. Ergo, the papers assume Sven's going to be sacked. Dumb stupid media. Where does it say Sven will or will not be sacked. No comment means, 'I don't speak great English and I don't want to discuss it here.'

As I said before. Massive non-story.

Thought I'd put this here instead of starting a new thread. Yes I know it's tribalfootball.com, nuff said, but the highlighted statement is the intereseting bit.

Portsmouth boss Redknapp can't believe Eriksson under pressure
tribalfootball.com - April 20, 2008

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp can't believe that his opposite number at Manchester City, Sven Goran Eriksson, is under pressure.

Speaking after Pompey's 3-1 defeat, Redknapp said: "We have the big four and then Tottenham and Newcastle should be behind them, so if you are outside that group and get a top-10 finish I think you've done fantastic.

"I don't know what the situation is here but they will have a top-half finish for sure and they have some quality players."

Why's that 'arry? Why should Tottingham and the barcodes be behind the self-proclaimed "big four"? If they should be there, why aren't they?

What a complete and utter dick-weasel.

They should probably be there because of the amount of transfer-fees that they pay out. If you totalled up the amounts spent, the top six would probably include Tottenham and Newcastle. The reason they aren't there is through footballers not fulfilling their potentials - Darren Bent for example.

Redknapp only said good words about us after the match, so i give him some credit there.

If thaksin expects top four in the first season for spending £50m, then he has a rude awakening to English football.

Sven has done a great job, we have our highest points in the PL ever and beat United twice this season. Could not ask for more for the first year in charge!!
