| Even on skysports. I just hope we make Europe.
Thaksin Shinawatra has stated that he will evaluate Sven Goran Eriksson's position at Manchester City at the end of the season.
Reports over the weekend claimed that the City owner and chairman had lost confidence in Eriksson following the team's poor recent results.
It was also suggested that Shinawatra was lining up Portugal boss Luiz Felipe Scolari as a possible replacement.
Shinawatra has insisted that he has no immediate plans to fire the Swede, who was only appointed to the role last summer.
However, he admits he will assess Eriksson's performance when City's Premier League campaign is over.
Asked by reporters in Dubai whether Eriksson's job was in jeopardy, the former Thai prime minister said: "There are no plans at the moment.
"We will have to evaluate at the end of the season.
"I'm not happy with the performance of the club in the second half of the season.
"We will look at it at the end of the season and assess the club and the people involved."
Shinawatra also wants the City squad to be strengthened over the summer, adding: "We'll probably have to sell some players and buy some new ones.
"We need some defenders and midfielders. Midfielders are the key. We have some good players but we need more."
Manchester City made a strong start to the season but have slipped back to eighth and face an uphill battle to qualify for Europe.

| | Yeah, but they are all taken from the original Thaksin quote "We will look at it at the end of the season and assess the club and the people involved." This could just as easily be an assessment of how the 3 year plan is progressing not necessarily that Sven is possibly on his way out. The doctor needs to come out and state clearly his thoughts and intentions regarding Eriksson. |

It's just different parts of the media making their own interpretations of his comments. I strongly suspect there'll be another statement from Paul Tyrell on the OS by tomorrow morning saying this is load of bollocks..

| Im not 100% behind sven at the moment so i suspect Thaksin feels the same. Money is everything in football and he has plenty so far. Some of the performances have been shit and it does make you wonder with all that talent. Why Ireland is playing is beyond me, he has had one really really good game and that was at Old Trafford. Geovanni pisses allover him.

| I like managers who find players that dont cost arms and legs and make a really good team. Would you agree Sven relies on millions? He had 200 million at Lazio, no wonder they were great. Im not sure, lets see what money he gets in summer, hopefully he will get back over 15 million for the flops, then maybe he will be given 20 million to buy atleast 5 more players with what little he really has, then see what kind of manager he is. I do like him but looking back 10/15 games he has frustrated me with a passion, mainly stupid tactics when shit teams are there for the taking.

Geovanni has experience on his side, whereas for Ireland to gain that experience he has to play. He could be great, its just a matter of wether he wants to be. His performances havn't been too great, but i would give Sven the benefit of the doubt. He is the one with all the experience of managing.
I would give Sven another season at least, and evaluate next season. I would be chuffed with a 7th or 6th place finish if we performed for the rest of the games. I think asking us to be beating Everton in the table is a bit far-fetched, Moyes has been there for a long time and built an incredibly industrious team. Sven has only had half a summer to build a team (January is not the best of times to be bringing players in). We need consistency, and Sven clearly has the experience that not many other managers could match.
We beat United home and away, that coupled with a 7th or 6th place finish would be fantastic. Im fully behind Sven (cue Benny ) at this present time, I believe some people see him as the ideal scapegoat for unjust criticism. It was the same with England.
