If thaksin expects top four in the first season for spending £50m, then he has a rude awakening to English football. Sven has done a great job, we have our highest points in the PL ever and beat United twice this season. Could not ask for more for the first year in charge!! It's not just Frank that needs a wake up call, some City fans do too. In there eye's a double over the rags and a top 10 finish isn't good enough and the season has been a failiure. What they fail to realise is that the top four have had several years of big investment to get them where they are. If in a couple of seasons time having spent £150-200m we're still just a top 10 team, then make changes. I think the great start, raised people expectations too much to be honest. We never had the squad to maintain top four and it was only a matter of time. We were not so lucky with the signings in Jan either, except Benjarni. Players need time to settle to the league and playing together too. If we get Europe it will be a massive bonus, but the season is not a right off if we fail. Good first year for all, at least your now looking forward to the next year and how we can build on things, as long as Frank does not throw a spanner in the works!!

| We have improved from last season and have a squad we can build on for next season. I expect us to secure a UEFA place next season at the very least.

I think Villa proper tonking Brum yesterday to paid to that as far as the league goes, can't see us catching them and I can't see Pompey doing it either, which if they won the FA cup would move the intertoto spot down to 7th, (i think). The only way we'll get into Europe is if there is a another swing towards the EPL in the fair play league.

| I just want to throw my ample(ample, cuz we all know I'm great) weight behind sven and the job I think he's done this season. Lets look at the signings he made. Some might say that not all of them came off, and that may be true, but that's not the point, you have to remember that when he came in with only a few weeks to go in the transfer window he had no idea about the existing squad, where it needed strengthening and where it didn't, or the quality of any players coming through the youths. Which made the job of knowing what to spend money on much harder than it should have been because it was just down to luck and other peoples opinion whether he signed players for the positions than needed it most. This season we should see a more targeted recruitment policy, and I have all the faith in the world that sven is the right man to do it.
Yes, all right.. Christ Almighty! It's like walking down a corridor and answering the door in Nazi Germany! |

| | Sacking a manager this early on is ridiculous. After just 1 season, it gives SGE something to evaluate and build on. This club has known too many changes over the last couple decades to have another manager go this soon. The Rags were baying for Fergie to get the boot in 1989 and look what (unfortunately) happened since the 1989/90 season there. A manager must be given 2 or 3 seasons at least. But it appears that with so much at stake, a manager is now lucky to see a full season out.
