Thaksin Unhappy With Sven

Sven-Goran Eriksson may leave Manchester City at the end of the season, following reports of unrest between he and chairman Thaksin Shinawatra

It is understood that the former Prime Minister of Thailand is unhappy with Eriksson’s handling of the squad, and that he has grown frustrated with City’s poor form over recent months.

And it is understood that Shinawatra has recently given the former England boss a stern talking to, warning that his job may be in jeopardy if things do not improve across the board.

Sven Gone?

A source close to the club said: “Thaksin rang Sven to reprimand him, telling him he would be sacked at the end of the season if results did not improve.”

It has come to light in recent weeks that agents wishing to engage transfer negotiations with City have been told not to approach Eriksson, indicating that the Swede’s position is less than secure at the moment.

The Sky Blues have won just five of their 17 domestic fixtures since the beginning of 2008, which has seen their scintillating start to the season deteriorate into mid-table mediocrity, as they have slipped from the Champions League qualification zone to the nothingness of eighth place.

Other Options

City officials have denied any discontent between Eriksson and Shinawatra, insisting that the chairman would be satisfied with a top-ten finish. However, they understand that Eriksson’s reputation throughout Europe means he will be on many radars following these rift reports.

Valencia are being touted as potential suitors, with Ronald Koeman looking unlikely to survive his horror first-season in charge at the Mestalla. Benfica are also being mentioned, while Roman Abramovich, who chased the Swede prior to his appointment to the England national team in 2004, may look to rekindle his interest if Chelsea end the season trophyless.

What the hell is Thaksin thinking of!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sven all the way, his first season 8th what he wants more !!!

last season we were nearly relegated !!

I'll wait for your ideas and opinions..

It's in one of the papers today. Surely it's just press bollocks though.

unfortunately no press bollocks.

on the bright side Sven and Thaksin supposedly argued about to buy Diego (Sven wants him) or Ronaldinho (Thaksin wants him and not Diego) so there seems to be money available in the summer.

I'm of the understanding that top 10 was year one of the three year plan, so being bang on track for achieving that, why would he change it. Total arse, has to be. You'd expect better from the Times-I blame the fact they made their paper little. I'm sticking with my Torygraph.

I trust none of the press. I read the columnists, some of which are pretty good - Henry Winter, Mick Dennis, Martin Samuel - but the rest of the back pages are usually fairly lacking in any real substance I find.

Yup. Press bollox. Thaksin wanted top ten 1st year. He's got that and more. Ergo, bollox.

He doesn't half do my head in. He has a column in four-four-two and he just talks shit, and says a whole lot about not much.

you should trust the papers because if they say the truth City can only win.

On the one hand who have next season Sven, Diego ....

or you have Scolari and Ronaldinho......
