Bill Bastard (11/04/2008) I genuinely don't see the need for a 100% mortgage. They're bastard expensive, and if you can afford the reapyment on one, you can basically wait seven or eight months, and use what you would have spent on repayments as a 5% deposit. Especially with a stagnant/falling property market.I think that's the crux of it. Recently house prices have been going up so much, that people have felt if they didn't get on the property ladder quickly, even if it took a 100% mortgage, they never would. I got my first flat in Edinburgh and it was an utter rip off for what it was, but I would never have been able to buy the same flat on the equivalent salary just a few years later. My thoughts exactly, if I didn't get in now, I might never get in. Crap aint it ?

125% mortgage please Mr Halifax. Have you seen the price of a semi in Brooklands? And I need to fit it out with a 50 inch Pioneer television if that's alright.

That's why we moved up to north Manchester, house prices in south Manchester are a rip-off. Only rich bastards can afford to buy down there, especially just off Princess Parkway, near to Whalley Range high school for girls.
you know, you know, if a feller named Monroe never fathered bluegrass he would still be unrecognised as the grand wizard of speed metal

| | I don't understand what you're talking about. I don't half feel stupid when people talk about stuff like this. I shoulda played Monopoly more as a kid. I'm alright at the moment though, living at home, rent free.

| How hard can it be Squidge? We were saying that I live near a large girls school. Mr Badger used to live near me, but moved, and he was saying he has fond memories. then he said he doesn't want anyone to think he's a nonce.

| I used to work in retail banking. The rule for a mortgage then was 2.5 times the highest salary + the second salary and/or 90% of the value of the property.
