The Ghost Of Gibbi (11/04/2008) He's a stand-up comedian... 8 out of 10 Cats toowhat's that? Whiskas. It's a lie too, often repeated by amateur statisticians. There is a key line in it, and it's 8 out of 10-who expressed a preference. Changes all the data. You have to love what we can do with numbers don't cha? Edit just 'cos I'm in that mood. What does that sentence mean? Well, I could test a million cats, or people or whatever, and out of a million 999,990 may say-"I can't tell the difference, It's all the same, etc etc". 8 out of 1,000,000 may prefer choice A. In which case, I can say 8 out of 10 (who expressed a preference) preferred Bennyfood. And claim a sample size of a million (which one would think is representative). What the real data is saying is no-one cares, but the way I present it makes you feel 800,000 prefer Bennyfood. Beware stats. Though alwaystrust Bennystats. 100% of forummers who expressed a preference* said "Bennystats are the bomb" *Me

Bluewythy (11/04/2008) men who dont like dogs or football and think jimmy carr is offensive are definitely not to be trusted.i love football, don't really like dogs, and jimmy carr...i have heard of him but i couldn't tell you what he does or who he plays for. U serious Bassy??? Is it Brentford? Or is he in Sinfeld as well? I'm starting to see the humour in this.
Someone get a message through to Captain Snort That they better start assembling the boys from the fort. And keep Mrs. Honeyman right out of sight, 'Cos there's gonna be riot down in Trumpton Tonight. |

I'd imagine they'd prefer it to cardboard shavings or sprouts, but other brands of cat food? I'm not convinced this experiment has the proper controls without further data.

| Have you ever kept a cat LabM? Picky bastards. They'll turn their nose up at the wrong brand any time - and then tip over the dustbin.

If I were designing the experiment I'd be looking at some factors like "returning to a bowl" going to oine bowl rather than another". It's not great data but I reckon I could work with it.
