After he declined to play for ROI, Don Givens, the stand in manager and not a bloke to be pissed about, refused to consider him. He said he had been given his chance and now it was up to him to approach the FAI. Stephen Ireland said Givens had a cheek talking about him like that. Brady and Trapper-Tony obviously see it differently.

That was my first thought too, but then he hasn't not withdrawn from the squad yet (excuse the double negative - I mean he has to fail to withdraw from the squad for it to be good news). It's the 'unless he asks to be removed' bit I worry about, sounds like Stevie hasn't actually had any direct input into this selection.

| It's both as far as I'm concerned. He's been brought back into the squad on the manager's initiative with a clean slate, but it's only good news for us if his head is straight and he doesn't decline the offer.
