if Cardiff win, then they have to be given a place in Europe, because that's the prize on offer. They have been allowed to compete in the competition, so if there was a doubt, they should not have not been allowed into it. if it's because they are from wales, then tell them to play in the welsh cup instead of the FA Cup. it's a bit like a couple of years ago, they were all talking about not letting Millwall into the Uefa Cup because they weren't a top flight club, but they did in the end. No, the prize on offer is the FA Cup. Europe is a bonus, which Cardiff aren't eligible to receive. But surely the prize of winning the cup and a place in the Uefa go hand in hand, otherwise they should stop teams from Wales from competing in the competition. What would happen if Cardiff got into the Prem, won the title, would they be stopped from competing in the Champions League? Yes, they would-why should they be England's representative in the champions league? They play in the english league as a guest, and they know exactly the conditions that go with that. Entry to Europe is purely discressionary (sp?) from our FA. It is not a prize at all. These are not surprises for the club, they are well established rules. The surprise is that they are in the final, but in no way do I think we should make an exception. Last time I looked on a map Cardiff was in Wales. If Marseilles finished outside the top 4 in France should we give them one of our places? (I know that's silly, but it is the same concept) to me then, there is no point in Cardiff competing in our league then. Every club dreams of becoming one of the best sides and being able to challenge in Europe. if Cardiff would never be allowed to do this, then they might as well pack their bags and play Cefn Druids every week. Exactly.

| Bert Trautmanns neck brace (07/04/2008) So who beat Cardiff in the Welsh Cup?I was wondering this. Wasn't that long ago Cardiff, Swansea et al used to enter the Welsh FA Cup and play regular European footy because of it. How come they no longer?
