Not true at all. They knew if they won the cup that they would not be given a nomination for a UEFA cup place. That isn't something that is new, it is well established and has always been the case. They are allowed as guests to compete in the FA Cup (and the English league) but they also know that they will not be nominated as representatives of England in Europe. There was no doubt, these conditions were crystal clear from the start. Yes, tell them to play in the welsh league and cup, I agree with that, but they have been allowed to play in the English league and cup, fully aware of the conditions of that-these are not stealthy, an haven't just been introduced this week. You're right that it was totally wrong to say it about Millwall, but the FA are totally right in this case-the conditions were clear from the get go, and to start whinging about it now is bollocks. It's all moot though, pompey will win, I betcha.

But surely the prize of winning the cup and a place in the Uefa go hand in hand, otherwise they should stop teams from Wales from competing in the competition. What would happen if Cardiff got into the Prem, won the title, would they be stopped from competing in the Champions League?

Yes, they would-why should they be England's representative in the champions league? They play in the english league as a guest, and they know exactly the conditions that go with that. Entry to Europe is purely discressionary (sp?) from our FA. It is not a prize at all. These are not surprises for the club, they are well established rules. The surprise is that they are in the final, but in no way do I think we should make an exception. Last time I looked on a map Cardiff was in Wales. If Marseilles finished outside the top 4 in France should we give them one of our places? (I know that's silly, but it is the same concept)

(I know that's silly, but it is the same concept) to me then, there is no point in Cardiff competing in our league then. Every club dreams of becoming one of the best sides and being able to challenge in Europe. if Cardiff would never be allowed to do this, then they might as well pack their bags and play Cefn Druids every week.
