WTF is all this about ?

Apparently, if they do win the FA cup, or Pompey win but qualify via the league Cardiff will not get into the UEFA cup as they are registered with the Welsh FA who will refuse to nominate them as they don't play in the Welsh league and they will nominate the winners of the Welsh FA Cup instead?

How wrong is this ? The made it all the way to the final and won't even be able to play in Europe  - which will probably boost season ticket sales and put much needed cash in the coffers

I dunno. There's a few dodgy welsh teams who get into europe every year (TNS anyone?).  They can't have it both ways.  Plus, if excluding them gives us any better chance of getting in then I'm all for it.

You are correct.  This is unfair.  However, as Peter Risdale is the mastermind behind their recent success, I say "bollocks to them! Serves them right!"

I agree it's harsh.

However, i hope they don't get in Europe if they win because that is then bending the rules. They are aware of the rules when they enter the competition...if they don't like them, don't enter. Maybe the rules should be different, but the rules should not be ignored because they get the sympathy vote.

We're seeing this more and more, with managers who haven't got the necessary licenses being allowed special dispensation to manage in the premier leage and all that stuff, i will be a bit peeved if they do get a European place.

From Manchester with love

They could leave the English league and join the FAW and prolly qualify for Europe every year. Not sure that would make them richer mind.

I'm with Squidge on the "rules are rules" thing.

Probably it's the same thing Liverpool got when they finished 5th.

Can we have one please? Just for being cool.

This sort of ruling may make Celtic and Rangers think twice before trying to join the Premiership.

Good point - we should get a wild card for being the only team in Manchester

This sort of ruling may make Celtic and Rangers think twice before trying to join the Premiership.

That's never gonna happen anyway though is it?  But, it's a good point-would they get more revenue from playing week in week out in the premiership than guaranteed european football (not saying they wouldn't qualify, but as it is they definitely qualify. And if they would, what would the owners of the club do? Take the premiership money or go for europe and represent their country?  I suspect I know the answer sadly.
