| Gallagheresque (07/04/2008) I said a few weeks back that Benji ain't all that and got shouted down on, Think Samaras is better than himNot sure I agree with that entirely but Sams touch was OK. Benjani must so easy to defend against, he rarely runs the channels, never gets wide or pull centre halfs out of their comfort Zone this means that opposition defences usually maintain good shape which means it's harder to break them down. We end up passing around the area without any penetration and it usually breaks down and have to frantically defend a counter attack. Thought Ireland had a good first half on Sat as well. In fact if are going to play with one up front and one off, Ireland instead of Elano at the mo for me.
I gave Elano my Porsche and now I want it back! |

| | Looking ahed to Sunderland - think we should play 3 at the back (leave out Sun - bring Hamman back in holding role ) play 1 holding then 4 in mid and 2 up front - Sick of wanting Sven to play 4-4-2, might as well want him to play 3-1-4-2. Ireland has good movement but doesn't always play the most cutting passes. Would like to see him on the right and Vassell as out and out striker with Benjani or Sturridge. Manure and Arsenal both play with amore fluid front line - their strikers have great movement around the pitch - opening up defences, our tactics see very wooden and predictable compared. We don't seem to create chances unless it's a set piece - and then we only get 50% on target (seem to remember was only 5% when Barton took them).

I think you may have highlighted the difference between Arsenals front line and ours

| | Thought we played well in patches, even made them look ordinary, but if you gift them two goals all the pretty stuff counts for nowt. Again I'm going to point the finger at the two players that there's been much discussion about on here. Dunney's own goal was well avoidable, he should have been more aware of what was round him. Elano was at fault for their second, why the fuck he chose to dribble the ball out of defence taking on two of their players only he knows. The two maim problems we've got is fire power and width. Benjani is started getting a fair bit of stick but he's not a loan striker, and certainly not a loan striker who's given fuck all support, I though he did well given the service the midfield gave him. As for width, we always play narrow, yet again WE isolated Petrov for long periods of the game, as for the right wing, fuck knows why neither SP or Sven have seen fit to buy a proper replacement for SWP, not as if the problem hasn't been apparent for ages is it?

| | I think next season we may see a bit more of Etuhu. From the brief time i have seen him i think he is pretty much in the same mold as Shaun, pacey with the ability to attack players. but of course we do need someone permanent on that right hand side, i'd have Bentley, been a big fan of him for a while and had another great game on Saturday. | |
