I thought we were far and away the better team in the first half, and then for seven minutes or whatever it was til the second went in.
The fact that we then gave up really worries me though, and as hard as it is against Chelsea, we were at home and they didn't play particularily well.
Has everyone written off this season then? Can anyone see a late recovery, if just to save face and make us look more attractive to potential recruits?

| They were soooooo much better at keeping the ball than us. I thought Essien and Lampard in particular rarely looked like they got out of second gear. The gulf in class in midfield was enormous.
Saving face? Not that important. Top ten's good enough. Make ourselves attractive to new recruits? Well we'll be more attractive than we were last summer I would have thought. UEFA cup sopt would obviously help in that department I suppose.

| Chelsea Out played us,they're a different class, thats why we are where we are and they're where they are. Essien in particular played outstandingly in my opinion

There was a point in the first half when we broke from a corner, Benjani held it up really well, and then fluffed the pass square to Elano. Watching Chelsea break on us is completely different - they seem to have more sense of what they're doing, and most importantly, the poise to make the key pass. They got lucky with the second goal deflecting, but we never seem to be in the position to make the pass.
It's probably just them having a higher calibre of players than us though.
But I thought it was much better, and miles ahead of the Birmingham game. We didn't hoof the ball, and we didn't continually pass back to Hart who would then hoof it.

| Thought we put in a decent performance. Petrov had one of his better games for us, and he did what I have wanted him to do for a long time....pull the trigger. The Whores had the class to be able to watch us play the ball around and wait for us to cough it up. They're a very efficient side.

| we cant slag the team off since chelsea are are great team one of the best in the world . . . but it doesn't give the players a right to stop trying . . . I'm not so disappointed at the result I'm more annoyed that they gave in when the first goal went in

| Agree with al the above. Benjani's fluffed pass was particularly frustrating. Elano did a similarly shit one shortly after. They, on the other hand were knocking it around us for fun.
Had a rare sit in the third tier. Gives a real good idea of how differently the teams played. We were actually pushed up a lot more than they were - Terry and Alex sat very deep pretty much the whole match, whereas Dunne and Neds left quite a bit of space behind for long periods. If Anelka hadn't kept straying offside he could have done some real damage.
I don't remember either of their full backs being put under any pressure, which is disappointing.
