Mine is the Flying Scotsman leaving Kings CrossJust reminded me... I saw my first real life steam train today. I'm too young to have seen them in service and have only ever seen them on TV. It was such a beautiful sight. I was walking down the road when I heard the unmistakable chug chug chug sound. I looked up, and going over the bridge above the road was this beautiful highly polished black engine with pure brilliant white clouds of cotton wool like steam bellowing from its funnel that evaporated into thin air. Not the dirty gray/black smelly smoke I'd had in my imagination. It really was a beautiful sight.
Yes, all right.. Christ Almighty! It's like walking down a corridor and answering the door in Nazi Germany! |

| After inspiration from the 'favourite piece of art' thread, I've got this at the moment:
Previously I had a photo of the new St. Pancras station - I was down there a few months ago and spent about 20 minutes walking round taking photos. I've now got a great collection of civil engineering porn.
